BannerRules

We aim to provide a range of rules and rule types to best meet the needs to the 6mm wargamer.

A.G.S.

A.G.S. is the system that allows wargames to be fought during any period.

The rulebook contains the basic game principles, movement, melee, morale, chain of command, terrain and so on as well as more advanced rules.
These rules  will be the core for all A.G.S. products.
The rulebook itself  does not provide specific rules for every type of troop or every battlefield condition to be found during the history of war, it concentrates on troops during the black powder era; English civil war, American civil war and so on, games of this nature can be fought using the rulebook alone as no supplements are needed in order to play.

A.G.S. is designed to be played at the battalion scale; the majority of games will have companies as the standard unit size (about 100 men).
One miniature represents one man. This means that what you see is what you get.
None of this having 10 miniatures behind a small cottage on the table that can’t be seen even though with a scale of 1:10 those 10 men are actually 100 and are much larger than the terrain that conceals them.
The standard infantry base size has 12 miniatures on it, 8 of these bases makes up a standard infantry company. There is no reason why this one base of 12 miniatures can’t represent a company or a battalion or a brigade or what ever you want it to be.

The rules are flexible.

They are your rules.

“These rules were designed to play the largest of games in 3 – 4 hours using scales between 2mm and 20mm, on a typical club night. We wanted to be able to play a game have a good historical result, a lot of fun and then be able to leave later on that evening knowing who has won and who has lost that particular battle. They are quicker and easy to learn and fun to use.

We have played some of the largest battles using these rule sets and have been very happy with the results; we have played Gettysburg, Cedar Mountain, Chickamauga and Shiloh in the ACW period. Waterloo, Borodino, Leipzig, Hannau, Ligny and Roscomme in the Napoleonic period and many more.

These rules have been play tested in several clubs and a couple of countries as well, we now feel we have achieved what we think is a balanced game and fun game, with a lot of emphasis on the fun.

The test players as gamers especially like the moment of madness on a roll of double one for the Commanders and the moment of inspiration on a roll of double six when rolling for the initiative and orders phase. Pips are used for command orders simply it was easier to keep track of pips than Aide de Camps running around the battle field.

Once you know the main mechanics of one set rules you will find that you can pick up the other set, or supplement if you so wish, and play very quickly without having to learn a whole book of new rules, just a few minor changes to fit the period.

Happy gaming and we hope that you enjoy them as much as we have!”

Mechanised Warfare Rules

"These rules are intended to provide a quick and simple method of fighting large scale battles using 6mm or 2mm micro tanks and infantry.
The basis of the system is that armour is grouped on bases, each base containing several vehicles making up a troop, section or any other low level organisation element."

Napoleonic Rules

“The Brigade is the basic ‘unit’ in these rules, for orders, movement, firing an fighting.
Infantry Brigades are composed of varying numbers of Battalions.
Cavalry Brigades are composed of several Squadrons and Regiments.
Artillery Batteries may be nominally attached to Brigades and or formed into independent reserves/grand batteries.
The notion of cohesion is the basis of these rules. Cohesion aims to bring together into one numerical value the combined effects of morale, attacking spirit, determination, fear, fatigue and disorder or lack of cohesion. By doing so, it is hoped to bring about a faster, more interesting game.”
